How To Save Time During Youth Football Practice Sessions
A youth football practice session is only a couple of hours long, meaning that you as the coach or trainer do not have much time to work with your team. It is difficult to teach anything to a group of young people in such a short amount of time and have them retain what they have learned. Add to this the fact that most young people have short attention spans and you can see how easy it is to waste those precious moments during practice and how that can have a negative impact on what you are trying to accomplish during the session. Even when you take breaks and there is no instruction during the break, you are wasting hours over the length of the entire season. There are many different ways you can avoid wasting time during a youth football practice session. Many teams use scrimmage matches and games as a tool to help sharpen the skills learned during instruction times and to allow players to see how these skills apply to a given situation. Most teams use scrimmage vests to tell the two scrimmage teams apart from each other. Rather than waste time with vests which can take up to five or six minutes to put on, make the switch to caps. These caps simply slide over your team’s safety helmets and are much more affordable than the vests. Another way to save time during youth football practice is to take five minute water breaks with special times of instruction. This means sitting the team down allowing them to rest a minute and rehydrate. While they are sitting and resting, you can use that time to teach a new play or to share some instruction regarding a certain fundamental or position. This enables you to be productive during every minute of your practice time. Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com MamboSports.com is the first complete national youth sports directory.
