How To Stop Stress From Turning Into Depression
Stress can eventually lead to depression if you do not find ways to relax and look for ways to better yourself. Moving away from the only friends and family I had, working at a horrible 6 am to 4 pm job and a rocky marriage that later turned into a divorce caused a great deal of stress in my life. It eventually lead to depression - a word you hear a lot on television and found in many health magazines but one that's hard to comprehend until the day you become a victim of it. I had all the signs of depression: I felt sad, hopeless, tired for no reason at all, irritable, angry, anxiety, low self esteem, etc. I even had thoughts of suicide. However, I fought through it and have the following tips to help others who are facing the same battle: Get enough sleep. This may be hard for some but 7-8 hours of sleep can help a great deal. Try relaxing in a nice hot bubble bath and reading a good book. This helps stimulate sleep. Good bedding is also a must. I always prefer buying duvet covers instead of comforters. It is easier for me to take care of. Talk to a friend. When times get rough I always turned to a good friend for advice. Call someone that you have not spoken to you in years and I can guarantee you will feel a lot better. Get out. When feeling to overwhelmed, go outside and get some fresh air. Don't stay locked away in the house and make matters worst. Go to the park with your kids or visit a old friend. Exercise. This helped me a lot. Exercise will help you feel more energized and helps build up your self esteem Try taking some aerobics or kick boxing classes. This will keep your mind occupied and it's tons of fun! Dance. Whether it's going out dancing or at home dancing to your favorite songs with your spouse and kids. Take deep breaths. You heard this a million times but it actually does help. Close your eyes, inhale for a few seconds and then exhale all that stress out of your life. Do this a couple of times and you will feel the difference. Watch your favorite movie. Kick off your shoes, grab some popcorn and enjoy a movie you haven't watch in years. These are just a few, simple, yet effective tips to help cope with depression. What tips do you want to share?
