How To Train For A 5k

Races are definitely fun, but require you to have to train for them. You could certainly run a race without training, but it is better if you are physically and mentally ready to run a race. When you run a race and you’re unprepared, you will most likely feel like you could have done better. But, when you run a race and you’ve trained for it, you will most likely feel ready, which results in a better race time.

If you’re new to races then the first race you should definitely try out is the 5K. 5K races are great because anyone can train for it, regardless of fitness level. A 5K is equivalent to 3.1 miles, so the distance is not a long distance, but enough for you to feel a challenge if you are a beginner. Many people use the 5K as a starting point because it is easier to get into than a marathon race, which is 26.2 miles. 3.1 miles is just perfect for a person who is trying to get into shape or wants to run their first race.

Of course, running is considered cardio, and we all want to have a well rounded fitness routine for weight loss. Besides running, it’s also best to do some sort of strength training, as well as being mindful of what you’re eating!
