How To Write An Article In 5 Simple Steps

If you're involved in online marketing with a very limited advertising budget then write an article. That's right by publishing your article you'll be able to generate traffic for any site you may want. Oh yeah, I forgot, you're not a 'writer' so therefore this marketing technique is off limits to you. Well you're wrong because article writing is not as difficult as you may think.

The fact is anyone can learn how to compose an article. You see just by breaking down the process you'll come to realize the difficulty is not so much in the writing but more in how to organize what it is you have to say.

Here is a 5 step guideline that will help simplify your article writing EVERYTIME:

Step #1 – The Title

As people are mostly 'skimmers' when it comes to reading, your title will need to be something that catches their eye. You may choose to use shock, humor, or even sarcasm in your title to capture the reader's attention. Try to make it interesting if possible and keep it relatively short.

It's important to note here that you'll want your title to accurately reflect the overall content of your article so as to not mislead the reader.

Step #2 – The Introduction

Here is where you want to 'introduce' the reader to what the theme of your article is. Take this opportunity to explain briefly what the article addresses and how it may, if applicable, resolve the issue. The readers will want to know as ASAP why they should read the article and how it will benefit them.

Step #3 – The Body

You want to naturally flow into the subject from the introduction. Don't skip around in an illogical fashion since you will confuse the reader and they'll leave the article before they even finish.

You also want to format your article so that it is laid out in an easy to read fashion. The use of short sentences and paragraphs is recommended. Be as concise as possible when stating your case or making a point.

With every change of point or direction on the subject matter you've written about be sure to separate into a new paragraph. Also the use of a list when reviewing several related points or items is suggested. This practice makes it easier for the reader to follow along.

Using a conversational tone throughout also relaxes the reader as opposed to a more formal presentation style. Remember you're speaking WITH your readers and not talking AT them.

Step #4 – The Conclusion

End your article with a brief summarization of the points you've made and what you have resolved or accomplished. This is a reminder to the reader of what they read and how it may help them if your suggestions are followed or insights are accepted.

Step #5 – Proofread Your Work

It is natural to get lost in your train of thought as you're composing and overlook minor grammatical errors or incorrect sentence structures. Always proofread your finished article. You don't want to tarnish your efforts with minor errors like these thereby limiting your ability to generate traffic.

Remember, whenever you write an article, just break it down into these 5 simple steps. By approaching your article writing in this fashion you'll be more focused on accomplishing each task separately. This in turn will make the overall process significantly easier for you. In addition you've now added another tool to your online marketing arsenal. I look forward to reading your next article!
