How To Be A Credit Score Star

There are numerous TV shows that say they can teach us how to be stars.

The TV shows are just the tip of the iceberg, too; they're the shimmering, gleaming point of celebrity and star quality aspirations that run deep and unseen almost everywhere in our culture.

From PR firms to clothing lines to the thousands of all singing all dancing celebrity schools up and down the country, little stars are all over the place, just waiting to brighten up someone's life.

But, although we can see the cult of celebrity almost everywhere and we might be willing to spend a larger proportion of our time than we could like to admit singing Britney Spears songs into hairbrushes, for most of us our sights are set a little lower especially on the day to day: a phone contract, a mortgage, some money for that long longed-for addition to the house.

For those things, being Kelly Clarkson won't cut it (although we're sure it wouldn't hurt).

Anyone that's been turned down for borrowing knows that it's a fairly simple substitution from a Simon Cowell glare to a blank credit score stare.

So how does one get the proverbial three nods from the judges and go on to be a credit score star?

It starts, as so often, with a credit card comparison which can help users to asses the situation and see which products are currently available.

Checking out whether you will be a good applicant for the product in question is a good place to start since salary, household income and age can be as important in this case as the credit score itself.

This is particularly the case when it comes to instant decision credit cards where mistakes can easily be made.

Next it's worth getting hold of a credit report from a credit scoring group to check for mistakes in the files that could prejudice any application for borrowing.

After that it's just a long slog of good behaviour: having a stable lifestyle, a home for a number of year and other well-managed financial commitments all contribute to a good score so it's important that these, at least to some extent, a part of your life.

There's also a case for getting hold of bad credit rating credit cards in order to improve a credit score.

These products need to be used properly in order for them to positively affect the credit score, however. This can be a challenge holders who have poor scores in the first place.
