How To Decide On A Good Gym

Location, How far is the gym from either your house or your work.
This is a bigger deal than you might comprehend, for those of us in a normal 9-5 occupation, attending the gym really is an effort, a struggle lessened if your gym is either near your place of work or your house. Having a gym nearby lessens the excuses you give yourself for not going and if it is nearby your job or house it is easier to go.

A mapping feature such as in Ireland Gym Map Search shows exactly where your local gyms are.

Day rate facility
Does the gym allow a day rate option, if so then avail of it for about 2-3 weeks to see if you are comfortable with it, there are no strings attached and if you find something you do not like about the fitness centres then you are allowed to continue looking for a better gym. Choosing a 12 months membership can create a lot of difficulties if you suddenly do not like the gym.

Better annual bargains
Usually fitness centres offer better plans to people who register for a year as opposed to a month or 3/6 months.

Inspect the gyms standing
A big must, do everything you can to find the gyms reputation in terms of workforce helpfulness, machine condition and repair etc. There are numerous ways to scope out a gyms reputation, go to an internet forum web and see if there is anyone complaining about it, or simply ask a current member.

Enough equipment for your requirements
Most fitness centres are wanting in some area or the other, whether it has a non-existant weights area or insufficient treadmills.

That is fine as long as you know what you need from the gym, if you need cardio then a bodybuilding focused gym is not important but cycling machines are and vice versa.

Consider how full the gym becomes
The busy hour, commonly straight after work or lunch time. If you plan on going either of those hours then go for a few days one of those times if the gym has a day rate option, and observe for yourself if the place is just too busy for your taste.

Staff attitude
Not highly important, in fact I rarely if ever have a reason to speak with staff in my gym, however you expect a certain level of courtesy from gym employees.
