How To Get Around London?
In the City of London you can travel around on the London underground, bus or the famous black cabs. The London underground is one of the fastest ways to get around the City. It is obviously more busy in rush hours so if your visiting London on holiday just stay away at rush hour times. A single journey will cost you around £4 or you can go for the travel or Oyster cards. The oyster card is your best bet and costs £18 per person. Bus trips are better for short journeys and you can buy a one day pass which covers the whole of Greater London. Remember the number 11 Bus as this will take you to most of the major attractions and sights in London. Another great way to get around London if you don’t mind a bit of exercise is cycling. In July of 2010, 6,000 bicycles became available for short-term rental. There are 400 docking stations throughout nine central London boroughs, so getting about by bike has never been easier. There are plans to make the center of London a 20mph zone which will make travelling around on a bike far more safe and attractive. Many people who visit London on holiday want to see what is outside of London. Kent is the known as the garden of England and there are many towns and locations which are just 20 half an hour out of London. Brighton is just an hour by train from Victoria station; there you will find a pebble seafront, pier and funfair. Eastbourne is about an hour and a half from London and is a lovely sea side town with a sand and shingle beach, large leisure complex and many indoor and outdoor attractions. Fancy a trip on the Eurostar? The Eurostar offers a journey time of 2 hours and 40 minutes from London St.Pancras to the center of Paris. Or you can visit Brussels in around 2 hours and 20 minutes. This is one of the reasons London is such a popular destination as you are just a hop skip and a jump away from France and all it has to offer.
