You don’t have to bother with stocking or shipping product, hiring employees, or any type of overhead. Your only responsibility is selling the product for which the company pays you your commission, and then handles everything else involved with running a business.

The second characteristic of a good business opportunity involves the type of training and support that is offered to you as an affiliate. Instructions and training on how to work the affiliate program along with a plan of action to take, should be accessible in the affiliate back office for quick and easy reference. Should you have any questions, you should be able to easily get them answered by simply contacting the company, or the person who may have brought you into the affiliate program.

The third characteristic of a good online income opportunity comes down to marketing. You are going to want to become involved with an affiliate program that has a marketing system in place along with available access to tools, sales leads, and/or advertising resources. An opportunity with such seamless integration with marketing and promotion allows you to easily get the word out about the product that you are selling. Plugging into such a system eliminates any potential learning curve involved with knowing where and how to advertise, and brings your customers right to you.

The fourth and most important characteristic of a good online business is of course the product itself. Research the company’s product or products and make sure that you will be selling something of value as an affiliate.

The fifth and final general characteristic of a good income opportunity is a lucrative compensation plan. Although it is entirely possible to earn a nice income through a single-tiered or single-level pay plan, I prefer multi-tiered or multi-level pay plans. With a multi-level compensation plan you not only earn from your own sales, but also from the sales of other affiliates. These affiliates are just like you and may have been brought into the company by you, by the company, or by other affiliates. A multi-level compensation plan greatly multiplies your earning potential.

An affiliate program is an easy home based business which can earn you a steady and continuously increasing income. An Internet connection, a telephone, a very small investment and a small advertising budget, is all that will be required of you in order for you to make money with a quality affiliate program. This type of business can be run by anyone who is motivated, and who has the ability to follow simple instructions.
