How To Install A Drinking Water Filter.

In this article, I'm going to describe the basics of installing a simple under counter sink filter. There was a time when I wasn't terribly worried about the quality of my drinking water. I drank from a tap the whole time I was growing up. That changed in my early twenties when I got a job as a service and installation tech for a national water treatment dealership.

It wasn't long after started changing water filters for customers before I decided my family needed it's own drinking water filter system. I was amazed at the amount of junk that was in the municipal water supply. You may or may not be able to see it in a glass of water, but you can definately see it on a water filter.

If the price of filtering systems from water treatment companies is a little more than you'd like to pay, you can go to a home improvement store and purchase an undersink filter cannister, a carbon block filter and a small faucet made for filtering systems.

When you get your filter cannister, you will need to open it and install the filter, then install the fittings in the cannister that allow you to connect whatever line size you choose to use. You will need to drill a hole for your new faucet on the upper deck of your sink and install the faucet. Next you will need to tap the cold water line under your sink to supply water to your filter. After connecting your lines from the supply to the filter and then from the filter to the faucet, you are then ready to mount the filter on the wall of the cabinet under your sink.

If you have ice and water in your refigerator and it doesn't have a built in water filter, you can install a filter system in an ajoining cabinet and drill holes in the side of the cabinet by your refrigerator to route the water lines.

Installing a water filter is a fairly easy project. With the parts and tools on hand, you can complete this project in an hour or less and enjoy far superior drinking water.
