The most important factor in making fresh food is buying the right ingredients. You can usually find what you need at your local grocery store. Some people like to shop at natural foods markets, or their local custom bread or cheese store. Unless you have a taste for a certain type of cheese, fresh mozzarella for instance, or a certain type of bread, you don’t need to go all out to make it taste delicious.
First we need to think about the bread you want. French, Italian, White, Wheat, or another type. At many stores you can find roasted garlic and many other kinds of specialty breads. I like to try different ones with different dishes. Slice it in half so there’s a top and bottom and lay out open on a cookie sheet. Drizzle or brush olive oil or butter lightly on each piece.
We also need a bulb of garlic. These remain fresh for long periods and can be used when needed. We love garlic in our house so I use at least 2 medium cloves per piece of bread after mincing it finely. You might want to try 1 clove and go from there if you’re not a serious garlic lover.
Next we need some seasonings. The spice called Italian Seasonings usually does the best job here. It has a variety of spices that taste great on garlic bread.
Finally we need to add the cheese. You can use shredded Mozzarella, or fresh Mozzarella if you can find it at your store. Many people also use other types of cheese, or grated cheese on top for added flavor.
Put it in a preheated oven at 325-350 degrees F for 8-12 minutes. Check often near the end to make sure you don’t overcook them. Pull them out when the cheese is completely melted and beginning to become golden brown. Let cool a few minutes before serving.
