I Love You Man On Dish Network Pay Per View
Most of his friends are girls, and at the moment he is dating the smart and pretty Zooey Rice (played by Rashida Jones from “The Office”). After Peter proposes to Zooey, it becomes abundantly clear that he doesn’t have anyone to ask to be his best man. Zooey has a bevy of bridesmaids and Peter has…no one. So he sets out to find a new best friend. With the help of his parents, his brother, and some online ads, Peter engages on a series of “man dates” to see who’s the best fit. However, no one seems to measure up, while one of them gets the wrong idea altogether. Peter is ready to give up, and then, at an open house for Lou Ferrigno (whose house Peter is selling), he meets Sidney Fife (played by the hilarious Jason Segel, who also starred in the very funny Forgetting Sarah Marshall.) Sidney is an outgoing free spirit, and the two instantly hit it off. Soon, Peter finds himself spending more time with Sidney than at home, and Zooey begins to grow increasingly curious about the new man in her fiancée’s life. The colorful Sidney helps Peter come out of his shell, become more aggressive in his job, and learn to enjoy himself more.This movie takes its cue from romantic comedies, where the two lovebirds meet, fall in love, have a couple misunderstandings, break-up, and finally find their way back to each other in the end. Peter and Sidney encounter the same problems, and I assure you, it’s very funny.Paul Rudd is always a reliable actor. I think he is extremely underrated, but thankfully he seems to be finally getting the recognition he deserves with this and last summer’s Role Models. Jason Segel is also a good partner-in-crime for Rudd, and he keeps you guessing about Sidney’s motives the whole time. Rashida Jones is also very good as Zooey. She is such a naturally likeable actress and laid-back in her performance that you can easily relate to her. The film also stars Jaime Pressly as Zooey's friend Denise, J.K. Simmons and Jane Curtin as Peter's parents, and the very funny Andy Samberg as his gay brother Robbie.I Love You Man is what I like to call a “smart comedy”, where the humor comes from some outrageous situations, but mostly from witty character dialogue and interactions. Other movies that fall into this category would be any of the previous comedies I mentioned, most of them helmed by Judd Apatow. They don’t have to resort to over-the-top slapstick humor that talks down to its audience (think White Chicks, Epic Movie, Date Movie, etc.) and you don’t have to feel like you are losing brain cells by watching it. There is some frank and crass sex talk in this, which I’ll admit is a little uncomfortable when watching with your parents, but beyond that, there is still a cute heart-warming story. Even my mom and dad were able to look past the crudeness and enjoyed it very much.If you are a fan of feel-good adult comedy that takes its time letting you care about its characters, then I strongly recommend I Love You Man.
