Icp Posters
Many guys reading this will remember tacking scandalous pictures of women on walls, whether they were musicians or models, that mom would barely accept. For the women, it was pictures of rock stars, whether it’s the famous Jim Morrison Doors poster or a strutting Mick Jagger. Whether the poster in question was tinted with a sexual attitude or not, it’s safe to say that the musicians in the band were usually featured in some way shape or form on the poster. Not the case with ICP posters. Joseph Utsler and Joseph Bruce, the two horror rappers that make up Insane Clown Posse, have never made their image more readily available than it needed to be. Joseph Bruce and Joseph Utsler are always covered in face paint. Joseph Bruce and Joseph Utsler are rarely seen in public for reasons other than those ICP related. Joseph Utsler and Joseph Bruce are rarely featured on ICP posters. Why is this? To start, one look at the artwork on ICP posters will help you realize that Joseph Bruce and Joseph Utsler appreciate artwork more than photographs. That’s not to say that photographs aren’t artwork, but the things conjured up in Joseph Bruce and Joseph Utsler’s imaginations, as evidence in their lyrics, is better represented when drawn by hand or digitally designed on ICP posters than when depicted via photograph on ICP posters. A quick Google search of ICP poster will reveal many brilliant designs, that are especially fun to peer into when listening to the songs that inspire the images on ICP posters. For instance, the Violent J (Joseph Bruce) Skulls poster shows a silhouette of Joseph Bruce wearing a black t-shirt surrounded by yellow lightning, skulls, and hatchetmen. While Joseph Bruce’s image appears on this poster, it is so obscured as to not be recognizable if it were not labeled as an ICP poster. Another awesome ICP poster that was designed digitally but does not feature either Joseph Bruce or Joseph Utsler is the Jeckel Brothers ICP poster. It shows bright orange flames lurching out of a candle, with two faces within the flames making maniacal and angry faces. The Carnage ICP poster is cool too, and while it doesn’t feature Joseph Bruce or Joseph Utsler, it does feature a human. This person is dressed as an evil Jester, with aligns well with the carnival theme carried throughout ICP’s career (the carnival of carnage). Of course, it makes all the more sense that the Jester would be yielding a weapon (a sledgehammer in this case), as weapons are often referred to by Joseph Bruce and Joseph Utsler in ICP lyrics and in logos (the hatchetman is carrying a hatchet).
