The technology group suggested that people following IT career paths will be at the forefront of Britain's efforts to recover from the recession.
As the finance and manufacturing sectors struggle, economic growth could come from the information and communication technology sector, the organisation forecast.
Jennifer Carlton, programme manager at Intellect, said: "Coming out of the recession, Intellect believes that the technology industry will be at the core of new growth in the UK, offering a better balanced economy.
"Creative industries and hi-tech manufacturers will offer the UK economy significant areas of growth if the right policy framework is adopted and if the sector is properly supported."
