If You Want To Influence Marketing, You Have To Move Online!

As the new year approached I did what I do every year: reminisced about the changes that have occurred and how society has evolved. I can honestly say that since the Internet was first discovered, technology has blossomed and continues to till this day. I mean it's really crazy to think that almost 200 years ago Alexander Graham Bell first invented the telephone and now, people barely use a landline. One of the greatest technologies has now become outweighed by the use cell phones and web cameras. The point is that technology is moving at such a fast pace that something we find to be novel and exciting today soon become yesterday's news. This explains why most of out everyday world can be found on the World Wide Web.

Our relationships with people are managed via social media websites, our everyday communications with family, friends and colleagues is through email, and even the world of business and marketing had moved online. I came across an article that emphasized on three reasons why companies are and have been choosing to move online. The first reason involved speed. Speed usually equates to efficiency. The faster, the more efficient. The Internet allows people to spend, learn, and engage faster than nearly any other forum. I can definitively agree with that. Then there is leverage. "Once a market or audience is identified figuring out where they hang out on-line is easy to follow up and re-send your message out to." And the last reason was the concept of illusion. Illusion provides companies to feel important in their field because they see their ads online and are involved in this very popular forum. This illusion provides business the confidence they need to stay motivated and keep the drive.

The article continued to go one to discuss why the Internet is more efficient and why digital marketing, or digital influence, is the newest approach to marketing. To be quite frank, I think that companies who have yet to move online are already at a disadvantage because their competitors are not only ahead of them, but are continuing to move ahead as technology moves. The best way to influence marketing is stay hip with technology and never stand still while your competitors are continuing to move.
