Improve Your Magnetism — Becoming More Positive
A tall glass stands alone on a coffee table, beads of cool sweat condensate off its side. Upon further inspection you notice that the glass seems to be exactly half full and exactly half empty? Ah…the age old question. Which is it for you? Half Empty, or Half Full? Well, technically it is completely full, half with liquid and half with air, if you want to battle semantics, but you understand the real question at hand. Sometimes we are quick to get absorbed with the daily hassles in life bombarding us, and we may forget to keep our chins up. Well below our some tips on staying positive and being more optimistic. Optimism Optimization Smile often It has actually been proven to onset better moods. You may think that the order of things has always been to become happy and then to smile, but the physical action of smiling has become so interweaved with the connection to happiness that smiling induces happiness. Change the Crowd Surround yourself with positive people. Lay low from the pessimistic friends for a while.. Find a hiding place for the next two-three weeks and stay there. J The more positive the crowd you are around the more that energy will rub off on you. Attitudes are like smells – they cling. Learn to Love People This can be difficult for some people. It is much easier to dislike a stranger than to find reasons to like one. Here’s a quick tip: do just that – find a reason to like everyone. Find a compliment. Make it honest and not only will it help you like other people, but chances are they will like you back if you get the muster to share it with them. Challenge Yourself Life can get boring and mundane, but only if you don’t constantly challenge yourself. Start new hobbies or start trying harder at work etc. It’s always best to do this for yourself – although, people WILL notice. Open Your Mind Sometimes we get negative perspectives on life. Maybe you already have decided how you feel about so-and-so, and every time you have to do so-and-so you hate it. Open your mind and find another way to look at things, change your perspective. Maybe start by seeing how other people can stand doing it, because you may dread so-and-so but you still have to do it. This brings us to our next point: Face Your Problems Running from what makes one unhappy does not make one happy – Chinese Proverb I just made up Difficulties in life are meant to define us and make us achieve our potentials. Running away from problems only prevents us from achieving that potential. Put on the boxing gloves, and take your problems to the cleaners. Relax Opening Your Mind and relaxing go hand in hand. It is possible to do either without the other, but both are easier if you can open your mind to a new idea which once frustrated you, and then wind down afterwards. If you do this, then it will be easier to open your mind next time. So is your mind half empty or half full right now? If it seems empty, open it. When it gets overwhelmed, empty it and relax. Set Goals and Reward Yourself Finally, and this point is huge for me, set goals and reward yourself for them. Some of my biggest joys in life come from seeing my goals through. Keep things realistic, and don’t be afraid to reward yourself for doing a good job. (See “7 Steps to Rock Solid Goals” at wordpress ) We all love rewards and just looking forward to a goal will make us happier.
