Improve Your Presentation Skills

I'm going to help you improve your presentation skills. This is a much different style of public speaking, which have a lot different rules. Even though it is different, you can have more of an impact on the audience if you do it right.

Use Visuals For Impact: When you're giving a presentation, you have a big slide on the wall behind you. Most people's eyes are moving back and forth between you and the slide. Flashing up an related image for what you're talking about can have a great impact on the audience. Let's say for example that you were talking about the recent Earth Quakes in China. Putting up a before and after image of a town/city can really hammer across emotionally to the audience that this was a BIG earthquake. Words are one thing, but when you see an image of it, you can really make an impact.

Handouts: If you're doing a presentation, than you're really trying to teach and/or motivate someone to act. That means people want to have more information, so give it to them. Don't print off your slides and give it to your audience, give them a handout that has more information on it. Even some sources and websites for them to look at themselves.

Reading Slides: This is a no-no. You don't read slides for a couple reasons. The first is that you turn your body away from the audience. This is somewhat disrespectful and it also gives the impression to the audience that you have no idea about this topic and you're forced to read the slides. The second reason is that you're no long projecting your voice to the crowd because you're forced to turn away from it and read the slides.
