Improve Your Running With A Gps Personal Training Device
The best functionality of a GPS personal training device for running is the distance gauge. Most are extremely accurate, however it is possible to get different mileage readings depending on your stride length. This is especially true when running on winding trails or in tree-dense environments. Many devices will also provide elevation readings and even indicate the steepness of the grade on which you may be running. This is particularly helpful if you train in mountainous regions, or like me, you prefer a course with as many bridges as you can find. The one function that no runner can live without is the setting for automatically tagging and storing mile splits. As a distance runner, I often find it difficult after a really long race to remember how I felt over certain areas of the course. This function allows me to review my entire race in stages. The least reliable feature of all GPS personal training devices is the heart rate monitor. Most devices seem to have difficulty even reading one’s heart rate throughout the exercise duration and are prone to constant “signal drops.” So shop carefully, but definitely invest in a training GPS. You’re sure to enjoy the detailed feedback after putting in all that hard work in your workouts!
