Increasing Awareness Of What The Causes Of Panic Attack Are

There are many theories floating around out there about what the causes are when it comes to panic attacks. This condition, as well as the panic disorder condition, is tremendously complicated because it involves so much about a person. People respond differently to different stimuli and some people have stronger reactions to than others. For example, abused children can often manifest symptoms of panic attacks before adulthood or even teen years. That seems to suggest to our layperson minds a conditioned response to extreme fear. However, that is merely one example out of hundreds, and certainly not all panic attacks are due to abuse of any kind. Hopefully the information in this article will help you develop a better understanding of the many different causes.

The overall medical and research knowledge is aware that panic attacks can run in families. This, of course, doesn't' mean that they always run in families. But there is no genetic evidence to support this. Deficiencies of important nutrients such as zinc and/or magnesium have also been decided to be probable causes of panic attacks according to some studies. The fact that other studies have had the opposite findings has made these results inconclusive. We are certain there will be more studies on this particular topic in the future. Then we can speak of certain risk factors such as we just mentioned about nutritional deficiencies. Let's zero in on other possible risk factors until that day arrives.

There can be painful instances in a person's life that can be the root of panic disorder, or the repeated amount of panic attacks. Panic attacks can be noticeable at a very young age in adolescence if the incidents are suitably ruthless. Certainly, the panic affliction will be noticeable by adulthood years. What types of traumatic instances can instigate this? The most regularly referred to are sexual abuse during childhood and/or physical abuse. There are procedures and replies that instigate a keen sense of fear, or a reply of fear, and that will lead into the actual panic attack.

Don't rule out a medical condition though, since it could still be the cause for your panic attacks. Additionally, there can be direct physical causation due to an event to the body. If you feel that you are having, or have had, a panic attack, then it is highly recommended to see your doctor. Hyperthyroidism (not hype), hypoglycemia and some heart conditions related to valve closure are examples of medical issues that can cause panic attacks. The first condition, hyperthyroidism results when a person's thyroid gland is over-active. Hypoglycemia is defined by a chronic state of low blood sugar. Always discuss anything out of the ordinary with your doctor about this condition as it may help you identify your own personal causes for panic attacks. Sometimes it's the physical manifestation of a phobia or other psychological condition you may not even be aware of.
