India As A Nation

"When a mighty tree falls, it is only natural that the earth around it does shake a little"

"What can we say to outsiders, we were killed by our own national family"

What emotions does these statements evoke in the youth of this nation.

Is it hatred? Is it anger? or God forbids Is it Casualness? Is it compassion? Is it mercy? Or maybe Ignorance?

When a young member of this nation goes through its history, the most predominant fact that comes out of it is that "WE" as a nation have always been fighting with one another. People blame the British for making us slaves. Were we really free before they arrived?

By freedom does not mean that the person ruling you should have the same skin colour as you have. The biggest freedom which a person can get is the freedom of thought. Were 'Indians' (that is if we actually were Indians at that time) free in their thought process before the arrival of the Britishers? They did not came up with the theory of 'Divide and Rule'. We were already divided. A spineless mass of humans with blood thirsty Power hungry rulers.

As the impressionable minds of the youth ponder over these issues, one strong sentiment brewing up is that killing fellow 'Indians' is not a new thing for us. Actually we have developed a liking for this act (only that can explain frequent revivals of such ideology). But should things always just keep on being in the state as it is? Should the youth 'adjust' with its surroundings or its high time he takes responsibility of the land he's born and his mind nurtured?

Two options clearly come up with this thought. First is to join the bandwagon. Live life as it comes even if at others' behest. Don't even try to think beyond the horizon of the mind. And most importantly, forget the past and don't care about the future. Let the self centric approach lead 'You' somewhere irrespective of any harm or good 'You' may do to others. The Second One is to stand up and be the change. No not changing others. Be the change you want to see in others. Every person who inhabits this planet which we call our home is as important to me as is to his close ones. You can never give anyone 'Life' so you have no right to take it either. No one should be a judge for that.

Is the youth at fault thinking all this? Did we even chose to be in such a situation in the first place? Some may say its nothing but the Hindi phrase "Gadde Murde Ukhadna" (pulling the dead out of their graves). But whats the importance of history if its meant to be forgotten. Can it BE forgotten? Life's an ongoing experiment. Its better to learn from our ancestors mistakes than to make them yourselves.

Its high time some sane sense prevail. No one has ever got anything by fighting with anyone. Live and let live.
