Indian Wedding Feast
An Indian’s taste bud is usually well acquainted with various spices and sweets, due to the beautiful unconditional mother’s cooking. And this fact is true irrespective of any kind of segmentation and positioning. Hence, his expectations lead to what we know as the Grand Wedding Feast. It’s a matter of the host family’s honour, pride and naak, that the food should be plenty in variety and to the level of an Indian’s expectations and critique. Usually, the primary food depends on the region of marriage. South Indians have their traditional steaming Idlis swimming in their hot and sweet sambars, the beautiful Mysore Pakhs melting in people’s mouth and the traditional meal ending banana. Bengalis work their fingers cut with the Ilish fishes, and stuff themselves with the renowned Roshogollas. The Punjabis bring about their skill in the Tandoor with their varied Rotis, Subzis and Tikkas. And similarly with the Marathis, Gujaratis, Konkanese, North-Eaterns and the other parts of this country has to offer its own special range of food items. During the “olden” days, food was prepared by special cooks along with the women of the house in the backyard or any borrowed space, in huge containers with several helpers cutting and peeling numerous vegetables. The invited community was small (as capitalism hadn’t taken effect yet), and the household’s immense contribution would suffice. But today, the contemporary scene not only requires the regional speciality, but also demands other genres of food like continental, Chinese, Lebanese (if you please) not only in the main course, but also in the form of starters and desserts. Hence, the system of household cooking is almost not seen today because of excessive demand. The concept of professional caterers and catering services has become a massive business today. The better the caterer, the better the quality of food, the more pleasing the service, and assured mouth-watering variety and all of this in balance with the expenses. All the equipment, raw materials and conveyance is taken care of by the caterers. Catering for Indian Marriage is studied as a business model in several International B-Schools due to its amazing potential to generate revenue. Apart from the rental of the marriage hall, the arrangement of the feast is what maximum money is spent on. Many a times, the quality of marriage is simply judged by the quality of food, even if the decorations and the cooling systems are out of place.
