Why Quick Dieting Is Fruitless?

Although fad diets are focused on calorie limits, there is still the possibility that they will fail. Weight loss should be well maintained with healthful habits and conventional exercise, with fad dieting those two usually doen't apply. Fad diets seem to fail because of these following reasons:

First, fad diets are focused on severe caloric restriction which enables the body to collect more fats because of its survival intuition. The body is built in to endure. More often than not, when the body detects critical starvation level, it naturally slows down its metabolism to preserve energy. Bodily functions normally decelerates like growing of nails and hairs. To a certain extent, it reserves its energy for the major bodily organs like the heart, brain and other indispensable functions for the body to survive. When a person eats and increases the level of calories in the body, the calories are immediately stored as fats.

Second, fad diets have a propensity to facilitate fluid loss in the body. This often confuses many dieters. They thought that they are losing fats but the reality is that they are depriving themselves of fluids. When they finally decided to discontinue their diet, the body will immediately regain its weight. This is not because of the body regains fats but because the body has replenished the loss of fluid. Remember, one-third of the body consists of water.

Lastly fad diets are not effective because dieters are programmed to eat certain kinds and number of foods. After they have reached their ideal weight they stop their diet and return to their unhealthy lifestyles.

Critical caloric limits or fad diets unfortunately work only in a short period of time.
