Insurance Databases That Can Affect Your Premiums: Clue And Mib

There are two little known insurance databases out there that can affect the monthly premiums that you pay. The Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange (C.L.U.E) and Medical Information Bureau (M.I.B) share your information freely among their members, often without your knowledge.

C.L.U.E tracks your property insurance claims for seven years. Most auto and homeowner insurers report all claims to C.L.U.E. When you apply for a new insurance policy, the underwriter will run your ''C.L.U.E. Report''. Even accidents/incidents that were not legally your fault could result in denial.

The MIB database is owned by hundreds of life, health and disability insurers. According to information on its website, ''MIB’s Fraud Protection/Risk Assessment Services protect insurers, policyholders and applicants from attempts to conceal or omit information material to the sound and equitable underwriting of (insurance).'' This could mean instant denial of life or health insurance based solely on the MIB report. You can freely see your own report from either site.

Go to https://personalreports.lexisnexis.com/ for your C.L.U.E report or call 866-692-6901 for your MIB report. You do not want to be surprised by either report. We recommend you do this before applying for Utah motorcycle insurance or NC motorcycle insurance.
