Irvine Photographers: 6 Tips For Generating Leads To Your Business

During an economic downturn many people lower their discretionary spending. Unfortunately for photographers, many of these people decide that photography fits the definition of discretionary spending. Even so, there are a number of things which a photographer can do to increase his leads.

1. Submit your images online to one of the many online stock websites. These websites allow you to build a page that describes you and your work. They also allow you to add links to your site and other information. Some of these sites will even pay you each time someone purchases one of the images. This will give others an opportunity to see your work.

2. Send out a letter or an email to your past clients describing a new promotion. Your past clients have already seen your work. They liked it enough to book you and pay money for your product. They had a good experience working with you (if they didn't you need to find a way to change that). Make it a promotion that offers them real value.

3. Send in pictures of local events to your local newspaper. Newspapers will often add your name to the image or story. In addition for their online versions of their papers they may add a valuable link to your website.

4. Provide comments on some online message boards or blogs. You don't have to be pushy about your business, just make your comment and include a link back to your website or blog.

5. Find a business willing to hang your work on their walls. You get promotion of your work; they get terrific images for their establishment. These images may be on their walls for some time, therefore make sure you show your very best work.

6. If you are a walker or a runner, why not incorporate your marketing into your daily routine. Print up some promotional cards. Drop them off at different houses in wealthy neighborhoods as you walk.

There are a number of things a professional photographer can do to promote his business and gain more contacts. By taking the initiative a photographer can increase her business even during an economic recession.
