Is An Automatic Espresso Machine Right For You?

Espresso machines that are used for commercial purposes can be broadly classified into two types - semi-automatic and fully automatic. The automatic espresso machine, which was earlier used only for commercial purposes, has gained entry into the domestic field too. Both the models offer automatic brewing.

The working of semi-automatic machines slightly varies from that of fully automatic. In semi-automatic types, the amount of water that is required to make coffee is determined either by the machine itself or by the user. In this model, the user has to use a steam wand to steam the milk, and he or she has to measure and dispose of the coffee grounds. This machine is generally used at homes and restaurants. It is also used in some of the small scale offices.

Without a user, it is very difficult for semi-automatic machines to start the initial process. Until the automatic process takes over, it needs the assistance of the user. Again, at the end of the brewing process, the user has to turn off the machine. It is cheaper when compared to the fully automatic ones.

In fully automatic machines, the amount of water to be used for making coffee is determined by the machine. This model has basically two settings, single and double shot. A fully automatic espresso machine is generally used for commercial purposes and in business places.

In this version of the machine, the coffee is ground, measured, brewed and discarded automatically. A fully automatic model does not require manual interference. In this the user participation is almost zero. Each step of the process is carried out automatically. It is quite big in size when compared to the semi-automatic model and it is quite expensive too. This model is quite complex as it has its own sequenced coordinating system.

After analyzing the pros and cons of both models, you need to choose one based on your requirements. For commercial uses, the most suitable one is fully automatic as it does not require any user participation and at the same time it can make more espresso. If you are planning to buy it for domestic use, then go for the semi-automatic one which is cheaper and at the same time suitable for making a small number of espresso drinks.

Once you have decided on the type of automatic espresso machine, the next step is to find out different brands that manufacture these machines. Thorough research on the internet will help you to know the best suited machine for your needs. There are different models available with different features; the price range varies based on the features available.
