Is Closed-mindedness Making You Blind To Opportunity?
I read an interesting article recently about a chimpanzee that appears to be planning future courses of action. He was observed collecting rocks over a series of months before hurling them at zoo visitors. This is a remarkable find which may prove that we are not the only species which has the ability to plan. Chimps may have an expanded consciousness.
Dwell on the deeper meaning of this news article. For the longest time chimps were seen as a savage animals. Over time our perceptions changed and they were perceived to be slightly intelligent. Now it looks like they may be intelligent enough to plan for the future. We only discovered this knowledge because we were open to it. It's easy to see that closed minds don't open doors.
In the moment that this story hit the news wires our consciousness expanded. An impossibility had suddenly become possible. We instantly became aware of a new idea.
This occurs frequently in our lives. Whenever we decide to be open to all possibilities we increase our options. The status quo is to doubt. It's much easier to have a closed mind since it requires less thinking which means less effort.
Closed minds limit while open minds empower.
Adopt an open-minded attitude. Learn something new every day. Each moment presents you with an opportunity to expand your mind. Life doesn't need to be a routine. Move out of your comfort zone and into a new way of living.
Learn to view everything as an opinion. Science has made tremendous breakthroughs but it has also promoted the stagnation of the individual mind. Don't be so quick to accept something as a fact. Remember that before this news article hit the wire we were the only species that was capable of the concept of planning. This existed as a truth in the minds of men for hundreds of years. Since humanity's mind was closed to this new idea it wasn't able to accept it.
Free yourself by opening your mind to all possibilities.
