Is Garmin 350 Nuvii The Best Gps Unit For Car Trips?

It's not fun - or safe - trying to read a map while driving. Which, of course, is why a gps system makes so much sense.

You get a bird's eye view of where you are and where you're going. You get directions every step of the way. You get to keep your eyes on the road. You also neatly side-step the whole map-reading-skills-required thing (brilliant for those of us who are challenged in this area).

The question is, how well does the Garmin 350 Nuvii do this?

Have a look:

  • The Garmin 350 Nuvii is very sensitive and will lock unto satellite signals even indoors. Lesser GPS require you to be outside or hang out of the window.

  • Once it's locked on, the Garmin 350 Nuvii does not let go of its satellite lock.

  • And it takes you where you're going. The right side of the street, all the way up the drive.

  • The Garmin 350 Nuvii is small enough to sit comfortably on your dashboard, without getting in the way.

  • It's small enough for you to comfortably slip it into your pocket when you leave the car.

  • Being small does not make it hard to read. Oh no. Because its face is virtually all screen, the display is no problem to read.

  • You work this GPS not with buttons, but by touching the screen. Which makes it easy and flexible to use – even while driving.

  • It calls out directions so you don't have to keep peering at the screen.

  • Rather cool, this - if you enter the actual names of places along your route, this GPS will add them to your directions. “You are now approaching ... The Best Chocolate Shop In The World! ... (or ... Fern Cottage, ... or wherever)”..

  • If you make a wrong turn or miss the turn altogether, this GPS will very quickly get you back on track.

So what do you think? The Garmin 350 Nuvii may not have absolutely all the added extras, but it has got a fair few, and it's extremely accurate, extremely reliable. For you, could it be the best GPS unit for car trips?
