Is It A Gps Or A Co-pilot?

I have two driving routes to choose from to get home from work. When I leave my office every afternoon, I try to time it so that I reach my vehicle just in time to catch the afternoon traffic report at the bottom of the hour. I live in Miami where there’s bound to be an accident or tie up on one of my two routes. So, I let the traffic report dictate which route I take.

But there are days, terrifying ones, when I don’t make it to my car in time to hear the traffic report. Which route to take? It feels like a sick game of Russian Roulette. If I pick the wrong route, my drive home may take upwards of 2 hours!

So this year for my birthday, I’ve asked my husband for GPS. A co-worker just purchased one and at first I thought, “Doesn’t she know her way home?” but it turns out this little black box is a traffic miracle! The GPS provides you with free, constant, and up-to-the-minute traffic info! No more timing my work days to catch that two second traffic report “brought to you by the Hard Rock Seminole and Casino”!

And get this . . . the GPS has a “Lane Assist” feature that indicates which lane you should be in as you’re approaching a junction! For those of us who speed along six lane highways, this is feature feels like having your own co-pilot.

We all know that a GPS will suggest the “best” route to reach your destination. But did you know that many will allow you to program an alternate route. I can program my two routes home and get an instant, on-demand traffic report for both!

And who knows? Perhaps my GPS co-pilot can find a third route home!
