When I first got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, I remember asking the doctor if I would be likely to control my new found ailment with diet alone, NO! was his affirmative answer. "From the amount of insulin you have processed over the last 48 hours, we're pretty certain you'll be on shots for the rest of your life." That was a conversation I will remember for the rest of my life. I sat there on my hostpital bed feeling thoroughly deflated and helpless. When I got home, I spent the first few months just getting to grips with the whole blood sugar control thing, trying to avoid the volcanic reactions of a diabetic hypo, being caught out more than once without any food in the middle of nowhere. Anyone who has ever had a hypo will know where I'm coming from. As time went on and my love of insulin shots wanned, I thought I would take just a tiny peek on google for search terms like reverse type 2 diabetes or how to cure type 2 diabetes. Boy was I ever glad that I did. What ensued in the coming months and years, I can only describe as obsession. Learning every single thing I could find, the never ending purchase of book upon book, special reports, online pdf files, you name it I snaffled it up, it became my lifes work and still is. I get referred the occasional individual who has been thrust into the wonderful world of type 2 diabetes, they are usually a lot older than me but in all fairness I spent the first 35 years of my life eating more junk than a large family on vacation. When I speak to these individuals via email or on the phone, I get an overall idea about their diet, their level of commitment to exercise and just a general overview of their lifestyle. Usually the problems can be sorted out fairly easily, it all comes down to a significant change in diet. So if your told that your for the chopping block, dont despair because in answer to the above question is there a cure for type 2 diabetes? Well, that depends on another question. Are your prepared to make permanent and lasting changes to your diet and lifestyle?
