Is There A Real Demand For Restored Laptops?
It is common for the owner of a laptop to have it sent out to be fixed. In most cases the laptop can indeed be repaired but in other occasions the damage is so extensive the warranty simply replaces your broken laptop with a new one. That's the end of your involvement in this process. Now your busted laptop is taken, the broken parts are replaced and a new operating system is installed inside it. This laptop has now become a 'restored' or more commonly known as a refurbished laptop. These types of laptops are in a high demand simply because they are very cheap. In some places you can buy a refurbished laptop for less than sixty percent of the original retail price. In an age like today where money is scarce for large purchases such as laptops these refurbished models becomes very attractive to a frugal buyer. It was reported that in 2010, larger retail outlets which deal in computers and laptops saw thirty to thirty five percent of their sales being their own refurbished stock. The prices make these items undeniably a sale which cannot be passed up. These computers do indeed run just as well as brand new retail ones. The only difference in most cases is that refurbished models cannot be returned to a store nor are they covered under any purchase warranties or extended service plans offered by the retail stores you purchase them from. In most cases a refurbished model can last just as long as a new model if not longer since certain essential parts of the laptop have been replaced. Restored laptop models are also desirable because they have become easier to fix and refurbish then most personal computers. Which means that a larger store can send more laptops back to be fixed and even though they take a small loss on the refurbished product they are still receiving money for it in a sale over tossing it in the trash and completely losing out on the damaged product. Sometimes people buy restored laptops to kick around with and get the feel of one before they run out and find one brand new for full retail. So they can be like sample models for someone who is on the fence for buying a laptop. However make no mistake, most restored laptops are indeed in demand, maybe even more so then most people would think.
