Jaguar Xf Roars Forward With A New Engine

Jaguar is a watchword for tradition. Jaguar fans compare every new model against past models and want to see a continuity of that which makes the car brand so great. The iconic design and excellent handling remain consistent, but to get more power the engine of the Jaguar XF is being upgraded. This will please the critics who consider the current options around engine size to be somewhat limited.

In America, every Jaguar is built with a standard engine, a 5 litre V-8 capable of generating 385 to 510 brake horsepower. Models made in Europe may have more options, but they still come with and engine design which has been in use for over a decade. With the announcement that a new factory was to be built in the UK, came the speculative rumors that a new engine design would soon follow. This speculation has been proved right as Jaguar have recently announced they will be commencing production of a 6 cylinder engine to be used in Europe and the US.

This sort of change is good news, as is the fact the new engine can be used in the Jaguar XF, and potentially the XJ model. The specifications of the new engine are yet to be announced but insiders say it should compare favorably with the 300+ horsepower used in Audi and Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Without any firm confirmation, a release date, the point at which the new engine will be available can only be speculated upon. The best guess is it will be available for the 2013 / 2014 models. This new engine sees a definite step forward for Jaguar, and, after so long with the old engine, it is a step in the right direction.
