You’ve plunked down nearly 300 dollars for your prized little flat iron that a friend’s brother’s aunt’s friend recommended to you a couple of days ago. You squeal with delight as you open the signature-laden wrapping to see an immaculately gorgeous bag. Inside that bag, you find your 300-dollar flat iron, with so many gold-trimmings sparkling and shimmering around it. You try it out, and it does its job: it straightens out your hair. You let out a contented sigh as you think to yourself: I’ve got the best flat iron money could buy… ever.

Then it dies on you within a week of using it.

You seriously can’t rely on just hear-say when you’re going to seriously invest in one of the most important hair-styling tools in your bevy of beauty products. I’m going to go buy one RIGHT NOW!” Or maybe you’re going to be all cynical and say “Pff… that’s a total scam. How is it a scam? I don’t know… I just know it.”
