Katie Holmes Makes A Difficult Decision
Her decision? Ina Treciokas, Katie’s press representative, announces that the actress will stick to New York. “Katie’s decided to stay and do her last show. She won’t be going with Tom to the Globes. The cast of All My Sons has been like a family and they want to end it together.” The choice has certainly been a difficult one, nonetheless. Cruise’s stint during the Golden Globes may be his last, big chance at promoting his upcoming Holocaust film Valkyrie. It would make for fantastic press, then, if his lovely wife was right by his side throughout the awards ceremony. Tom Cruise without Katie Holmes on the red carpet is very much like Angelina Jolie without Brad Pitt. Holmes’ dedication to her theater work has been remarkable. Thus far, she has not missed a single performance, nor has she slacked in any other way despite the fact that she plays the smallest of the play’s four main characters. She has remained a good example during the recent burgeoning of screen actors taking on theater roles, from Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe in Equus, to Denzel Washington in Julius Ceasar, to Julia Roberts and Clueless’s Paul Rudd in Three Days of Rain. Reception for Holmes’s role in All My Sons, however, has been middling or lukewarm. She is, at least, unlike Entourage star Jeremy Piven, who had to pull out hastily the past week from his role in Speed-the-Plow allegedly due to high levels of mercury in his bloodstream.
