Keep Improving The Work
So if you're working for continual enhancement, to become more successful, then you have a mighty massive task on your hands. But there are a few places that you can start that will make an instant impact for your company. You need to look at the primary aspects of the process that are holding you back. There are countless different ways that we waste money and remain unproductive, however the major ones are the worst of the bunch. One of the primary culprits is making a process too complicated. It is easy to let a process get out of control, because as you grow or as situations change, the process could be morphed into something that will not even be recognizable at the start. That’s the thing about business and life, it is fluid, always developing and changing and you have to be able to adapt or else you will be left behind. And making up that ground is very troublesome after you begin falling towards the rear of the pack. So you need to look at the procedures in your facility, starting with those that are easier to detect and perhaps simpler to change. This way, your team will get practice in making the kinds of changes that you need to make and you'll make some progress without likelihood of tearing apart your largest money makers at first. Those will come later. But look at one process and follow it to the ends on both sides. This means look up and down the stream of the process, from where it logically begins, all the way until it is at the end of the line and in your customer’s hands. You will discover that this single process is intertwined with numerous other operations. One of the tricks of making improvements is to not mess up any of the other areas of the business.
