Keyword Research Wonder Wheel

There can be no doubt of the importance of keywords in the pursuit of marketing online. The days when someone could guess as to what might be suitable keywords, string up a list and copy and paste them into a campaign and sit back to see what happens have gone. More often than nothing much in the way of positive results, which translated into profits. I know from personal experience. Spy tools cost lots and not everyone has a bucket of cash to splash out on them. That leaves the free ones. Some are very useful. What would be very useful for the newbie would be a keyword tool which looks into the mechanism of the ‘nine hundred pound gorilla on the block’ of search engines. I was pleasantly surprised to find the relatively new google wonder wheel option.

We do not think like others, however much we are used to the herd instinct. Translated into searches in engines, that means we do not always tune into the keywords people use when looking on the net with problems to be solved. They have their individual ways when looking for a solution online. The new tool can help match the user and provider. Imagine a three dimensional chess board. The pieces on it are the keywords. It looks like three or so chess boards layered on top of each other. The pieces not only relate to each other on the flat board but also to those above and below.

This is the similar arrangement with googles wonder wheel. The keywords can be visualised on spikes from a wheel which are arranged to lead off to similar or related keywords. This can be a huge assistance for the person who is not so sure about spending huge amounts of cash buying expensive keyword tools and helps map out the possibilities of interconnection between search terms.

The related categories from the spikes on the wheel can be assessed for relevance by eye and experience, then can be re-entered in google search to ‘hone down’ into a deeper level for long tail keywords targeting specific niches. This will have the benefit of not only aiding the user to find an answer more easily to their enquiry but will please google as they can target their adds more specifically to the search entered. It does not need saying that the marketer can also benefit as it could help cut down on wasted clicks.

The chain of clicks goes, web search, which shows number of searches, options, and wonder wheel is down there on the left. This is not intended to be an advertisement for google but as a help for those who are looking for an edge, hopefully the new guy on the block.
