Kitchen Under-cabinet Lighting

Most kitchens have been designed with a single overhead lighting fixture. Throughout the daylight hours when natural light comes in through the windows, it isn’t more of a problem per se. at night, however, there lacks enough lighting to light all surfaces and counters for prepping food, cooking, and performing other kitchen tasks.

Additionally, some spaces lack enough exposure or may have tiny windows, meaning overhead lighting can be inadequate during the daytime. Hence the need for under-cabinet kitchen lighting.

Even though kitchen under-cabinet lighting is one of the greatest ways of brightening a space, it isn’t simply functional as it can also be quite decorative. Kitchen under-cabinet lighting systems come in all sorts of styles that offer a myriad of ways of enhancing your kitchen décor. A charming tile backsplash doesn’t get any justice if it will be hidden in the dark space under the kitchen cabinets. Kitchen under-cabinet lighting is a sure way of showing off not only countertops but also backsplashes.

There are several types of kitchen under-cabinet lighting which you can choose from, many of which are easy to install and very affordable. They are offered in fluorescent or halogen lights and are available in hard-wire and plug-in styles of installation. While halogen lights are as close to natural light as possible, their fluorescent counterparts are generally less costly.

If your kitchen is already finished, you would be better off with the plug-in design, while in the process of renovation or actual construction many go with the hard-wire design. To hide the wires after installation, you simply need to paint them a color that matches the walls, cabinets, or even tiles.

Kitchen under-cabinet lighting should be installed close to the cabinet bottom for it to better light the work space.
