This is one of the many inquiries we are asked, many new integrators like the easiness of use of the LCD advertising display and the low cost of the technology, but they are then confused with the advertising menu board, there look identical.

Now like everything, getting the right device for the job is crucial, this is were the similarities ends.

Digital Menu board.
As a rule a digital menu board is wireless to a media player these media players are relatively unique as they can be networked together, so when you update media on one television it can refresh all through the network.
Most media players that can be connected have software built in to them so that scheduling is simple.

How is the ads updated?
A networked ads player is controlled from a central position, much like updating a internet site. On one section of the monitor screen will be the workstation with the content on it and on the other section will be the portion that represents the digital signage network, so all you have to do is update the relevant part of the ads that you are uploading and the network will then synchronise at a fixed time and the new media will display but if you require immediate alterations for promotional items or emergencies, this too is also controlled by clicking synchronise for immediate effect.

Digital poster.
These are a commercial grade television with an in built media player in one unit, the only exterior cable is the power flex. There are two possibilities for content updates, the first is to collect the new media on a memory card and swap the old card for the new one, or use a Usb drive. The downside with a digital poster is that if you have more than 5 displays the probability are that you will not remember one television and it will be displaying old content.

A digital poster is perfect when used in a beauty or hair salon as the promotions will be regular throughout the year, with only seasonal improvements for Christmas, holidays and special occasions.
