Led Plant Lights And Hydroponics - The Answer To The Food Of Tomorrow

The City of the Future will be will comprise of high rise buildings and concrete roads and surfaces. It will be congested as hundreds of million are expected to be its residents. People from all walks of life are expected to dwell in the great city and will work in the offices and factories. It will be huge and farmland will be far away. The cost of transporting fresh produce to the mega city is expected to be very costly.

When we talk about the future it seems the world will not be able survive the billions of people that need to be fed. Not Anymore! As the people will not go back to the farms, let the farm go to the people of the mega cities.

There are two simple processes that are currently in use today that can feed the people of the future- LED plant lights and hydroponics.

LED Plant Lights
The sun will not be shinning through the windows of most city dwellers of the future. There will concrete roofs accommodate other people. A day in the sun for most people will be dream. So the question remains- how will vegetation grow without the sun? The answer is the LED (light emitting diode) plant lights. The versatile low powered electrical devise is in use today and you may be looking at one right now with your LED PC or notebook screen. It is widely used in the mobile phones and in televisions. It is no longer a signal lamp that indicates if the appliance is switched on.

Crops need light as energy in order to produce nutrients for their food. The LED plant light aims to exactly provide this energy. By emitting the correct colored light that the foliages need, they will be able to grow strong. By ensuring that the correct colored Led plant lights are consistently focused to the vegetation, it will grow until it is harvested.

Hydroponics
Hydroponics is the process of cultivating plants and crops with the use of soil. In the cities of the future, soil will be hard to find unless you are working in the subterranean level of the urban jungle. It is the perfect way of growing food, right at your kitchen and living room.

Most crops do not necessarily need soil to grow. They primarily need the soil to supply the roots with nutrients that are required to produce their food. Hydroponics does exactly that. The plant can be held or anchored by a device while water is directly fed into its roots. The water will include the complete micro nutrient requirements of the vegetations to make sure that they will remain healthy and strong. Water can be sprayed directly into the roots or will timely irrigate the roots. The roots of most crops cannot be immersed in water all the time as it needs oxygen also.

The above stated systems are already currently in use commercially in advanced countries that do not have sufficient land space to cultivate their food. Hobbyist and self sufficiency experts have been perfecting the systems in order that the children of the future will have an abundant food supply.
