Lake Hefner is one of the most popular outdoor destinations in Oklahoma City, offering sailing, fishing, trekking, jogging, biking, golfing, picnicking, and other recreation opportunities. Lake Hefner is a manmade lake in northwest Oklahoma City, built in 1947. Measuring 2,500 acres in size and 29 feet in average depth, with the deepest point at 94 feet, the lake is known for hosting sailboat races on weekends from April to October. The Lake Hefner Golf Course located on the southwest side of the lake off Northwest Expressway consists of two courses - a 6,970-yard course and a 6,305-yard course. The facility features a driving range, putting green, golf shop, restaurant and rentals. The Stars and Stripes Park on the southeast side of Lake Hefner is home to various recreational events including the annual Turkey Trot Classic.
