Last Chance To Enter £15k Kickstart Competition As Telehealth Company Joins The Fray
The latest entrant has created a wireless device to help prevent falls by elderly people. It is expected to be a key player in the fast-growing telehealth marketplace. The January 31 closing date to enter is looming and the attractive £10k cash prize – put up by Cambridge Consultants and the technology team at local accountancy practice Peters Elworthy & Moore – will prove exactly what it says: a KickStart to better things for an ambitious startup. The prize includes £5k of IP consultancy from leading trademark and patent attorney Mathys & Squire. Winner takes all, so just one company will claim the total prize. You can be anywhere in the world to enter. Technology from India, the UK and other parts of the globe have entered. One of the contenders offers cloud-managed instant-play game streaming to enable game developers, publishers and aggregators to have their own complete end-to-end Cloud Gaming platform. The instant-play technology streams DRM controlled game software to connected devices where they play without being installed; you just 'play' the game, much like streaming music, when only a small portion of the software is buffered. One startup in the running has designed, built and tested tiny speed dome security cameras. Cool design allied to low energy usage are key attractions of the new device. Another entrant is an education technology company that delivers web-application digital learning products to university and private language school chains in the developing world. Its products are digital interactive homework products that work on smartphones, tablets, laptops and PCs. Also in the frame is a sound technology company which has devised intelligent software to automatically analyse a real-time audio signal – either the audio track from a video stream, or an independent audio channel – to detect events of interest, such as glass break, aggression, car alarms or even gunshots. The software will alert security personnel and log the occurrence for later review. By analysing a live audio signal and comparing it against a set of pre-trained signatures the technology can highlight a variety of events that cannot be detected by analysing the video stream.
