Less Of A Man?

What makes a man? Is it how much muscle he has, or is it because he is tough and doesn’t cry? Or is it the number of beers he can put away and still hit the bull’s eye on the dartboard. Is it the car and sports movies he fancies? Is it the way he takes revenge? Is it in a haircut, the clothes he wears, or what? What makes a man?

You can’t pinpoint just one thing and say: There, that is what makes a man. A man is his own individual, with his own individual style, tastes and preferences, and character. If he is an athlete or a body builder, doesn’t make him more of a man than the guy next door playing in a band, or another designing clothes or yet another guy that likes to cook. Taking care of yourself doesn’t make you less than a man.

Let’s start from the top. A good haircut is important. After a haircut, you will feel healthier, sharper, and fitter. A good haircut makes you look well groomed and makes a good first impression. Something you can never underestimate. Take good care of your hair by washing it with a shampoo suitable for your hair type. Condition too, if you like. Next is the face. Whether you sport a fashionable stubble beard, a mustache or a clean face, you should invest in good facial products. What you need on a daily basis, is a cleanser, some toner and a moisturizer to go with your skin type. If you are unsure, ask for advice at the cosmetic counter. And no, it will not make you less of a man.

If you shave, spoil yourself a little with a good shaving cream. Your face will thank you for it by looking rejuvenated and fresh. Take a bath or shower every day. Taking a bath instead of a shower, doesn’t make you less of a man. You may even like to have a bubble bath. Enjoy it! Wear some cologne in a fragrance that is to your taste. Do not bathe in it. Nothing is as disgusting as giving the impression that the bottle’s top have come off accidentally. Learn how to wear it subtly. And no, it will not make you less of a man.

Take care of your hands. Wash the hands, use a nailbrush if necessary and apply some lotion afterwards. Keep your nails clipped short. Have a manicure if you wish, and no, it will not make you less of a man.

Dress according to your taste, your career or your whim. Just leave your women’s clothing at home. You can wear that behind closed doors. I don’t think the rest of the world is ready to see you prancing around in suspenders and high heels. Whatever your clothing taste is, do not apologize for it, wear it with flair and panache. As long as you do it with confidence, anything goes.

And no, it does not make you less of a man.
