Unable to afford to patent his idea, Davis wrote to Loeb Strauss, owner of Levi Strauss & Company, and suggested they go into business together. In 1873, their partnership was solidified and they patented the idea. So, Reno is more than a place to gamble—it is the birthplace of Levi’s.
