Lexmark Optra E - Lexmark Optra E Toner Specs And Info

If you're thinking about Lexmark Optra e - Lexmark Optra e toner then you may be out of luck. The Optra e is currently discontinued and not available for purchase in stores, or from the manufacturer's website. This printer was made by the Lexmark Company, uses Lexmark Optra E cartridge, and was one of their mass market models. They offer a good line of newer models though so don't fret, you can still buy a printer.
Laser printers work differently from inkjet printers. Inkjet printers use droplets of ink sprayed through a nozzle. Laser printers use imaging lasers that project the image to be printed onto a selenium coated drum. The drum is then charged, and draws the toner to the charged areas. The toner is then applied to the paper with a combination of intense heat, and direct contact. They are more efficient than inkjet printers, if not a little more expensive.
Because of the difference in technology, there are some safety concerns to be addressed. The extensive use of high voltage electronics inside the printer can lead to electric shock if touched. Unless you're a technician employed by Lexmark don't try to pry the side open and fool with it. Touching the outside is fine though, the printers have electrical protection to ensure safe usage.
Another hazard is the emition of gases. The printing process from a laser printer has the side affect of giving off small amounts of gases. These gases can form ozone, and nitrogen oxides if left unventilated. Under normal circumstances with adequate ventilation this is not an issue. In order to build up noticeable amounts however the printer has to be working for an extended period of time.
The bigger laser printers used by companies that make mass prints need plenty of ventilation however. Most businesses use carbon filters to keep the fumes from spreading outside. There is no risk from these fumes if the printer is handled, and used properly. Unless you shut the printer in a closet for 10 hours and, tell it to run constantly there won't be any fumes to worry about. The reported cases of a person getting sick from fumes have only happened in extreme circumstances, and are uncommon.
Lexmark's printers are very safe however, and extremely reliable. The company is a prime example of how to make reliable and easy to use equipment. Lexmark services most of the globe, and ships to most major countries. They also offer an extensive list of products other than printers. They employ over 13000 people worldwide.
The Lexmark printer toner used in a laser printer is pretty much the same as the toner in a regular printer. Essentially ink in a box, the little cartridges are essential to printer operation. After all no ink, no images printed. Most toner can be bought at any retail store, or ordered from the manufacturer in bulk if you need a lot of it at once.
