By limiting the leads to a target audience that is most likely to purchase your product, you are able to maximize your profit with a minimal amount of money spent to buy leads. You also want to be sure that the leads you are getting are exclusive leads, or you may be calling a list that has been sold over and over to your competition, so that while the leads were hot a month ago, they have already purchased their life insurance from the agent down the street.

In looking for a company that will provide leads for your company, you want to find one that will first allow you to buy only five to ten leads to try. If you are required to buy more, then that should be a red flag.

You will want to have the ability to return leads that are bogus or just can't get insurance. Any time you purchase leads, you will find some that are bogus. It is a part of the nature of the game. However, there should be a cap on the percentage of bogus leads that you receive and any leads over that limit should be returnable.

Finally, you will want to find out about the lead generation companies policy if you cancel. How much advance notice do they need if you decide to end the relationship you have with the company? Be careful when you are required to pay a large deposit to sign up with a lead company.
