List Building With Aweber - 3 Skills To Improve Results

My efforts to become better at list building with Aweber have enlightened me on a couple of key concepts everyone should know when starting out email marketing. Among the most important lessons I have learned is that with good email marketing comes long term success. Learning the skills necessary to develop long-term relationships can only by done by good email marketing.

What Is Aweber?
Aweber is what is called a double opt-in email autoresponder. That can sound quite confusing so we will take a little more time in explaining exactly what that means. The purpose of an autoresponder is to send a series of emails out to a group of people who have asked to be contacted by the system. People have told the marketing software that they want to be contacted by submitting their contact information into a form, and then have clicked on a link confirming their desire to be contacted. This is what is being referred to as a double opt-in system. Why does this matter? It matters because of the efforts of good internet marketers to maintain a clean reputation by not simply buying large groups of addresses and sending unwanted (unsolicited or spam) contacts.

Building a First List Using Aweber
The main tasks in list building with Aweber include naming the campaign, creating and installing a form, and developing content to send. Selecting a name for a campaign is usually fairly straightforward, ie. pick a name that is someway relates to the product, service, or event which will be promoted.

The next step is to create and install a form on your blog, website, or other page where targeted traffic is being sent. Once the form is ready to install on the website, the campaign needs to have content ready to go immediately after the first responder submits his or her contact information.

How to Begin Building Your List Once Installed
Once you have the content ready to go out and your form installed on your website, the only thing remaining is driving traffic to the page. The success of list building with Aweber or any other autoresponder software is greatly enhanced by getting the right kind of traffic to the page where your future client's contact information will (hopefully) be captured.
