A guest room or a living room is an essential part of house since this is where visitors are entertained. Lengthy conversations and watching movies happen mostly in the living room. House parties are held in the living room.

When you think about it, it so important to have such a room that it has to be presentable and comfortable at all times. It has to be kept clean and organized. Visitors usually judge a host by his living room. This is why decorative mirrors, chandeliers, marble tiles and other home improvement techniques are applied just to have a luxurious ambience and comfort at home.

Since the living room is where most people stay and talk, the sofa has to be soft, comfortable and accommodating. Although fine furniture especially antiques are great to have in the living room, the most appreciated is the sofa, simply because it is where the guests sit. They can feel if the sofa has good quality - if it’s cool during the summer or itchy when it touches the skin.

Nowadays, modern sofas are made in an entirely different way than decades before. Back then, a standard sofa is just made of upholstery. Now, it is made of steel, wood, fabric and some are a combination of any two or any three materials, minus the bulk. A standard sofa is made to seat three to four people. Now, modern sofas can seat one person, two to three and three to four persons. Those seats that can accommodate two persons are always mistaken for a loveseat. However, to an observant person, a sofa is smoother and has more aesthetic appeal than a loveseat.

Unlike what we were accustomed to, modern sofa nowadays have colorful combinations, not just one solid color. Proper choosing of color and material for a modern sofa can make a room appear lively, average or formal.

A popular kind of modern sofa is the one that can be converted into a bed. Naturally, sofas are comfortably soft and made for relaxation. Now, manufacturers have made it even more relaxing and convenient, not to mention practical. There are rooms which are too small to contain both beds and sofa. Therefore, people opt for sofa beds instead. With modern sofa, consumer spends less money and consumes less space at the same time.
