In the City of London you can travel around on the London underground, bus or the famous black cabs. The London underground is one of the fastest ways to get around the City. A single journey will cost you around £4 or you can go for the travel or Oyster cards. The oyster card is your best bet and costs £18 per person. Bus trips are better for short journeys and you can buy a one day pass which covers the whole of Greater London. Remember the number 11 Bus as this will take you to most of the major attractions and sights in London. If it’s your first time in London trying a famous black cab is a must. Look for a cab with a yellow light on the top and just stick out your arm and it will stop. Another great way to get around London if you don’t mind a bit of exercise is cycling. In July of 2010, 6,000 bicycles became available for short-term rental. There are 400 docking stations throughout nine central London boroughs, so getting about by bike has never been easier. There are plans to make the centre of London a 20mph zone which will make travelling around on a bike far more safe and attractive. More and more people are finding this a great way to travel around London and the trend looks set to continue. Many people who visit London on holiday want to see what is outside of London. Brighton is just an hour by train from Victoria station; there you will find a pebble seafront, pier and funfair. Eastbourne is about an hour and a half from London and is a lovely sea side town with a sand and shingle beach, large leisure complex and many indoor and outdoor attractions. There are plenty of beautiful scenery and attractions in neighbouring Kent which are worth a visit. London is also ideally located for visiting France and Paris. The Eurostar offers a journey time of 2 hours and 40 minutes from London St.Pancras right into the centre of Paris. Or if you prefer you can visit Brussels in around 2 hours and 20 minutes.
