Because medication can have side effects and be addictive many sufferers rather not use medication. In addition it is not very effective because it fails to treat the actual cause of the disorder. Often anxiety disorders are brought on by repetitive negative association with a particular experience.

Many people find that they become dependent on medication and cannot carry on their day without them. Sufferers can develop into chronic users, relying on medication their whole life. As a person increases tolerance to medication they often become ineffective and users might have to up their dosage to obtain the same effect. This makes coming off medication very difficult and most risk symptoms coming back when they do.

Luckily there are other methods of anxiety help that do not rely on medication. Cognitive behavioral therapy as well as other therapies don't require medication and are much more successful. This isn't to say medication can't be used in conjunction with therapy but a doctor's advice should be sought. Ensure that you speak to your doctor about the treatments available and the best course of treatment for you.

Some people might start therapy without believing that it will work or making the effort. What a lot of people expect is a magic bullet that can transform their lives instantly. But the mind takes time to break associations and learn new behaviors. Because it often takes time to develop anxiety disorders, recovering from them requires patience.

Anxiety symptoms aren't always obvious which might explain why some people don't realize they need anxiety help. Symptoms of anxiety run into the 100s and may not even seem related to anxiety. Many sufferers don't realize for years that they have an anxiety disorder. What's more there are various disorders and literally 100s of phobias, so one sufferer isn't expected to experience the same sensations as another.

Symptoms can change; one minute you have chest pains the next you might be hyperventilating. Factors such as mood and physical health can affect the frequency and intensity of symptoms. Symptoms can also seem too general and non- threatening like headaches, stomach upsets and hot flashes. Sufferers might just accept their symptoms assuming that everyone experiences them.

Knowing that something is wrong and knowing what is wrong with you are two different things. Some people end up becoming repeat patients never discovering the reason for their condition. Doctors aren't always right unfortunately and misdiagnosis's can occur. Each person needs a unique physical and psychiatric assessment for an accurate diagnosis. What's more each person requires tailored anxiety help.
