Looking To Go Online For Your Pet's Medication?

Shopping continues to get easier for consumers with the ever-growing options provided by the Internet. What started out as a few online store fronts selling "this & that" has now evolved not only to online pharmacies but now has evolved into online "PET" pharmacies. The advent of the online pet pharmacy has been terrific for pets across the county. In our discussion, we'll examine the various online pharmacy options available to consumers and their pets.

It was fantastic a few years ago when people could order their prescriptions online through a licensed pharmacy. For those of us constantly on the go, this was a great convenience. There would be no more standing in line at the neighborhood pharmacy; further there would be no or sitting in their crowded, small reception area while the pharmacist filled our prescriptions. All one needed was their doctor's prescription and the online pharmacy would process and then mail medication as per the doctor's instructions.

Fast-forward till today and now we have the same online convenience for our loved pets. The interesting thing to note is that pets seem to have as many medical conditions these days as that of their owners. Aside from some of the common afflictions such as heart & tape worms, animals can also suffer from other conditions. Our Golden Retriever is only four, and she is already on medication for arthritis within her joints. Our Maltese suffers from chronic tear-staining and is given a supplement to curb the sad, looking appearance of the stains. Even still, some dogs suffer from anxiety! Yep, that's right, call the doggy shrink; and yes, there is a prescription for your dog if it suffers from depression or anxiety. Further, there is always ticks and flees plus dental applications to keep our pets smile sparkling.

So where does the pet owner turn to online to keep their pets prescriptions flowing? Well just as with traditional, online pharmacies for people, pets now to have the option to go online and click and pay with their credit card. However, a word of caution from the FDA; as there are unlicensed pharmacies that sell counterfeit medications to consumers, there are also unlicensed pet pharmacies that sell poor grade products to pet owners. When choosing an online pet pharmacy, take a few things into consideration: 1) make sure that the online pharmacy is properly licensed, 2) make sure that the pharmacy requires a veterinarian's prescription with your order, 3) provide all of the pertinent information regarding your pet the the pharmacy…weight, breed, past medical issues, etc.. and; finally, 4) check the pharmacy's customer service policy to ensure that they offer refunds or medication replacement if there is a problem.

Don't trust your pet's health to anyone but the best!
