Los Pandos Vineyards
Los Pandos has come on in leaps and bounds considering it being only a few short months ago that the decision was made to invest in a big way in the winery. Investment into the winery was opened in January 09 and closed on 1`May 09 after being heavily subscribed. Obviously no matter what going on in the World's economic climate investors are happy wine will still be enjoyed by many! These investors however are being pretty savvy in that they hope to move into further investment into the Los Pandos Eco Town over the next 10 years. However I digress from the point, Los Pandos is back to the old ways, ecological and no artificial irrigation system with the Monastrell being the principal grape (ecological being the ethos of the new town) Los Pandos are also hoping to produce new vine varieties Tempranillo, Shiraz and Merlot. They will also have an experimental area of the vineyard for the evaluation of other varieties of both red and white wines. The agronomist for the winery is Claude Riera, and for thosenot in the know he is the man behind the science of utilising plants for food, fuel, feed, and fibre. All in all Los Pandos have a lot happening. I am no expert in wines however like a lot or people I know what I like. The wine is lovely, full bodied and smooth with a lovely hint of cherries. All in all I think Los Pandos is one of those on the list of 'one to watch' for a number or reasons and not just for their wines, the township of Los Pandos is up and coming so it must be a matter of watching this space...
