Looking for a way to lose a few pounds and get in shape but don't want to spend a fortune on a gym membership? Me too! Gym memberships seem to be constantly increasing in price. Buying equipment for your home is usually not an option either. Quality gym equipment costs thousands of dollars and most people just don't have the room in their house for it. Not to worry! Here's how you can get a great workout for free without using one piece of equipment, just your own body weight.
One of the best things about body weight workouts is that you can do them almost anywhere. No equipment is needed other than some running shoes. They are also extremely flexible in design. You can mix and match exercises and have every workout you do unique. This keeps things interesting and you're less likely to get bored with your workouts.
To put a body weight program together start by picking 4 or 5 bodyweight exercises. Pushups, lunges, squats and crunches are good examples. A simple search on Google will pull up hundreds of exercises that you can choose from.
When you are ready to start, just perform each workout in a row for however long you like. I like to create circuits. I like to go through an entire set of exercises for a few minutes, take a rest and then do them all over again. Two or three times of doing this and you'll be exhausted.
Give a bodyweight workout a try the next time you feel like exercising. I'm sure that you'll love it and will be surprised at how little time it takes to get a great workout in.
